Allison, I'm not sure what you wish it sounded like, but I thought your reading was excellent... especially that last "hush."

It's a gorgeous poem, but then I've yet to read one from you that isn't. I'm really glad you submitted it, even if you never read one again (though I selfishly hope you will, as I very much enjoy hearing poems read by their writers).

One final note... I think many of us have, at best, a mixed relationship with our own voices, at least at some point. I've gotten to a place of generally enjoying my voice when I'm reading my poetry, but still hating it if I'm hearing myself on a random recording.
