I think when you see how this has played out since I originally wrote my thoughts, it's undeniable that this case is a massive setback for women everywhere. I can only hope she wins the appeal.
The court surpressed a lot of evidence that was used in the UK case, and the jury was made up of 5 men and only 2 women. The fact that they weren't sequestered is also very shocking.
Yes, they had their weeks in court, but it's a civil case, for one thing. For another, after seeing how many horrific jokes have been made of Heard's testimony, how can it NOT impact victims moving forward? Even IF you didn't believe her, to mock the things she was describing is just heinous.
And the worst part is how many other women were guilty of it... it's just tragically depressing to me.
