Jetblue used to have a policy where you could request a refund within six months of flying IF the flight wasn’t fully booked. However, I haven’t been on a plane that wasn’t fully booked since the very first time I flew in June of 2000 (when I was at my lowest adult weight by far — about 330 lbs or so, but still a size 32).
As a very fat person, I’ve been buying extra seats for years. Jetblue has been my choice of airlines simply because the leather seats are much less uncomfortable and they have the extra legroom seats which for me really translate into extra belly room, especially when someone is reclining in front of me.
But having a combined three seats with my husband still isn’t a great compromise. My ass winds up numb and I get nerve pain in my leg from the second seat pressing into my hip.
We’re about to fly first class on Delta (like tomorrow about to) and I am terrified… I’ve only flown first class once and was likely about 30 lbs smaller. But also we couldn’t get two seats together. He’s a row behind me and on the other side of the plane. So we’re hoping one of our seatmates will be kind enough (or more likely desperate enough to get away from me, and frankly maybe even him, though at 300ish lbs and 5'11" with a lot of muscle mass he’s considerably smaller than I am) to switch seats.
